Hardwood flooring installation — New Orleans, LA

A wood floor refinishing service in New Orleans typically involves several key stages to restore the beauty and integrity of your existing hardwood floors. The process begins with aggressive sanding using progressively finer grits to remove the old finish, stains, and any surface imperfections. Following sanding, the floors are meticulously cleaned to remove all dust. If a new color is desired, stain is applied evenly. Finally, multiple coats of a durable protective finish, such as polyurethane or a water-based sealant, are applied to shield the wood from wear and moisture, enhancing its natural luster for your New Orleans residence.

While flooring liquidators in New Orleans might seem appealing for cost savings, it's important to consider potential drawbacks. Materials purchased from liquidators may be discontinued, have limited stock, or lack manufacturer warranties, which could lead to complications during or after installation. The quality and consistency of products can also vary. For a guaranteed level of quality, reliable product support, and expert installation tailored to New Orleans' unique environment, engaging licensed flooring professionals who source materials from reputable distributors is often a more secure long-term investment for your home.

Travertine flooring can add a touch of natural elegance to New Orleans homes, but its porous nature requires careful consideration, especially in our climate. Proper sealing is crucial to protect against moisture and staining, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms. Regular maintenance, including prompt cleanup of spills, is also vital. Licensed installers can advise on the best types of travertine for different areas of your home and ensure it's sealed and grouted correctly to maximize its longevity and beauty. Given the humidity, ensuring proper subfloor preparation is also key to preventing issues.
